The Writer’s Quill (currently version 2.5) WordPress theme was really designed more for a personal blog but can be used for any purpose. This updated version now includes threaded comments for WordPress 2.7 and above.

It has a custom header with an elegant and easy to read style and a built in calendar in the top left corner so that your blog visitors can easily find your posts by specific dates with a mouse click.

To install the theme:

  1. Download the Writer’s Quill theme.
  2. Unzip the writersquill-2.5.zip to the themes directory of your blog i.e. wp-content/themes.
  3. Upload the wp-content/themes/writersquill directory to the server the WordPress blog is installed on.
  4. Log into your blog admin console and activate the theme. It is called Writer’s Quill 2.0 (at this release).

Version 1.0.2

  1. Modified the search.php to correct a typo found in the text on the results page.
  2. Modified the archive.php, index.php, page.php and single.php to better display “Not Found” message when an invalid request is made. It will also include links to the last 10 posts as well as a link back to your home page. All in a descriptive manner for better navigation.

Version 1.2

  1. Modified the comments.php to include functionality for threaded comments using WordPress 2.7 and above.

Release Changes 2.0

  1. Renamed the writers-quill folder to writersquill so that the theme preview displayed the screenshot properly. (Issue surfaced in WordPress 2.71.
  2. If you are replacing any previous version, you can delete the blue-fade folder from your server and replace it with this version. Be sure to copy over any plugins that you have installed.

  1. Modified the ARCHIVE.PHP, INDEX.PHP, PAGE.PHP and SINGLE.PHP to better disply tags and categories when there many entries.
  2. Modified the STYLE.CSS to better style the comment/reply form.
